A while ago I joined a social media ‘trend’ where people tried to catch calling leaves in the Autumntime.
Initially, I had no luck, despite my best efforts. As they used to say in school ‘butterfingers’!
But one day, I caught one.
It was funny actually because the experience gave me a little lesson.
On the lucky day, I stood in a spot where the leaves were falling thick and fast the day before, but on that particular day just the occasional leaf was falling…they were few and far between and were landing a couple of metres away from me.
About 20ft to my left, the leaves were abundantly falling – loads of them.
I hesitated for a while debating whether to stay in my spot where leaves were somewhat lacking, or move to the area where they were drifting down like snowflakes…
Deciding after a few moments to follow my intuition towards the abundant leaves…
Soon after I moved from my spot, I caught one. It was actually quite easy – the day before I’d been chasing them and not quite catching, looking up to see if anyone had spotted my somewhat embarrassing efforts, but today this one drifted softly and beautifully into my open palms.

I felt quite emotional actually and quite proud of myself.
It reminded me of how we sometimes miss opportunities because we’re too busy, or too stubbornly focused on a task to look around…
Or we miss effortless abundance which is right in front (or beside) us, choosing instead to struggle and persist…
It’s ok to choose ease…
It’s ok to move from where you’re stood…
You don’t need to grasp, or chase…
You can just wait with knowingness that it will happen…
Thank you Mother Nature
